Peyton R. Patterson is the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of NewAlliance Bancshares and NewAlliance Bank, which is headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut. NewAlliance is the 3rd largest independent bank based in Connecticut and the 4th largest bank in New England. The Bank has $8.3 billion in assets and 89 branches in six Connecticut counties and in Western Massachusetts.
Ms. Patterson took the Bank public in April 2004, and simultaneously purchased two regional banking institutions. The Initial Public Offering (IPO) raised over $1 billion and was the largest in U.S. banking history. As part of the IPO, NewAlliance also demonstrated its commitment to the communities it serves by contributing $40 million in NewAlliance stock to create the NewAlliance Foundation.
Ms. Patterson has over 25 years of commercial and thrift banking experience with Dime Bancorp, JP Morgan Chase in New York and Corestates Financial in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2006, U.S. Banker Magazine named her as one of the top 10 Banking CEO’s nationwide. In 2004 and 2005, Ms. Patterson was named the 2nd Most Powerful Woman in Banking.
Ms. Patterson is a frequent guest on CNBC and Bloomberg News, acting as a spokesperson for the financial services industry. She is active on multiple professional and civic Boards. These include the Consumer Bankers (CBA), the American Banker Association (ABA), the Yale New Haven Hospital and the March of Dimes of Greater CT.
Ms. Patterson received an A.B. Degree in Political Science from Kenyon College in 1978 and an MBA from George Washington University in 1983. She grew up in Washington, DC, and currently resides in Madison, Connecticut.
